Liz grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee in a Presbyterian church where she came to know the love of Christ at a young age. In college, she had a friend who had been a former high school dropout and had just given his life to Christ. One day while they were running together, he challenged Liz about her faith. She knew that her faith did not look like his and she wanted what he had. That started a quest of searching for the Christ her friend had found. During that year,
Liz directs the ministries and activities of Fellowship Kids. She seeks to develop the children of Fellowship into fully devoted followers of Christ who make a difference locally and globally.
Liz came to realize that being a Christian was not just believing in Christ, but that her entire life was to be dedicated to Him and to be obedient to His calling. This was when she gave her life over to Christ.
Liz graduated from UT Knoxville with a degree in education. She married her college sweetheart, Chad Coley, and moved to Nashville, TN where she taught 3rd and 4th grade. In 1999, Chad’s work moved them to Jackson, TN. Having two young daughters, Liz started looking for part-time work that would allow her to be home with her girls. The church they attended had a job opening in children’s ministry for ten hours a week. It was during this time that Liz discovered her passion for children’s ministry. In the fall of 2004, the Coley’s felt God calling them to a new church plant called Fellowship. In 2005, Liz began serving as Children’s Director for FBC. In 2006, the Coley’s were transferred to Nashville, TN.
She served as Children’s Director for Strong Tower Bible Church in Franklin, TN. This was a multi-ethnic church where God taught her so much about relationships and racial issues. In May of 2008, the Coley family had the opportunity to return to Jackson. Liz now has the privilege to serve again as Children’s Ministry Director for Fellowship Jackson. The church has grown and evolved since they left and she is excited about the future. Liz not only has a passion for teaching children God’s Word but also teaching them to serve others.
God has blessed Chad and Liz with four beautiful children. Megan is 17 and Anna is 15. In 2001, they adopted Ella from the Philippines; she is now 11. In November 2006, God gave them their first boy, Caleb from China, who is 4 years old.
