Wes was born and raised in the city of Lubbock on the dusty plains of West Texas. In this family-oriented community, God used encouraging Christian parents and a local church dedicated to the spiritual needs of children to nurture Wes’ faith in Christ.
Wes is responsible for the development and direction of Fellowship’s Community Groups, a ministry dedicated to the personal growth of our adult attendees. He also preaches periodically and provides leadership for College Fellowship.
Throughout his childhood and into his teenage and college years, Wes remained connected to the local church in a variety of ways. Despite such saturation, the thought of vocational ministry never crossed his mind. It was not until God used a passionless career aim and an opportunity to disciple high school boys that his affections were turned toward church ministry. At the age of twenty, Wes made public his commitment to vocational ministry and so transferred to Wayland Baptist University, where he eventually received a degree in Religion in 1999.
During these years at college, Wes worked at his home church as a youth intern and a sound technician. It was here that he met his future wife, Abbie. They were married on August 18, 2001, one week after she graduated from Texas Tech University. Abbie then moved to join Wes in Dallas, who had already started attending seminary and serving as a college/singles minister at First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill.
Wes finally graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in May of 2005 and joined our staff as the Equipping Pastor the following month. Since then, Wes has taken responsibility for the development and direction of Fellowship’s Community Groups.
On September 28, 2008, Wes and Abbie welcomed their first child into the world, a beautiful little girl named Natalie.
