I’ve always been fascinated by the enthusiasm that children have about loosing teeth. Their teeth are falling out of their heads—and they are ecstatic! There may be pain and blood and awkwardness involved and they are left with these silly smiles, and yet they don’t seem to mind a bit. They don’t mind the loss because they know it signals greater gain. The momentary pains are no more than forgettable inconveniences that herald something bigger, better, and more permanent.
Something bigger and better is coming to Fellowship. In response to our continued growth, we will be adding an additional worship service to our Sunday mornings. Starting August 7th, service times will be at 8, 9:30, and 11. All three worship services will be hosted in the main Worship Center and will include live worship and live preaching. This change will allow our growth to continue while also lessening congestion in our facilities and parking lot.
Hopefully, the shift to three services won’t involve any pain or blood, but I do foresee it creating some awkwardness. People are, by nature, habitual creatures—we take comfort in our routines and their disruption is generally unwelcome. But in this case, the change is welcome because it is in response to God’s blessing, and it allows us to bless others. Also, three services give us additional opportunities for worship, growth, community, and service. In other words, it furthers our mission of creating compelling relationships with God and others that have an irresistible influence in our world.
